Text Box: The Time Has Come ...
Yes, the rumours are true, Richard and Kathy have decided to retire.
It seems a very long time ago that we started Swiftsure Travel with Brian Kershaw in 1992, but we have decided that 27 years is long enough and it is time for us to escape from the stresses and worries of running a small business.
We have offered the business to some respected and trusted friends in the coach trade, but, for a number of reasons, they don’t wish to take on our programme of day trips and tours. We have therefore decided to close our business in an orderly way; our final trips will be at the end of January 2019 and our admin offices will close for good on Monday 28th January 2019. Our phone/e-mail/post will be disconnected after this date. If you need to contact us ring 07843 016901, leave a message and we will get back to you.

We are truly thankful for the support of our many loyal customers over many years.

Arranging our day trips and holidays has always been a pleasure and I am sorry that we have to bring it to an end, but we know that now is the right time for us to step back. Our best wishes to you all!

We would like to place on record our thanks to a number of organisations and individuals who have helped us along the way:

Our private hire customers, the numerous WI groups, Darby and Joan Clubs and other voluntary groups, who are vital to their local communities and run by people who give their time to bring companionship and pleasure to others; we thank you all. Two groups are worthy of special thanks – they were the first clubs to join Swiftsure and were still with us at the end – The Burton Stroke Club and The Alrewas Darby and Joan Club – Colin and Yvonne, we thank you wholeheartedly!

Our friends in the business. Good neighbours and good friends who have always tried to help us when things don’t go according to plan: Terry and Linzi at Terry Bushell Travel, Graham and Carole at Fletchers, Paul and his crew at Paul Winson Coaches, and, back in the day, Mick and Pat at Leander Travel, Chris at Afton Holidays, Ian and Carol at Felix Bus and Coach and Donald at DH Cars. Thank you all.

Without back up from our suppliers we couldn’t exist. We have always tried to trade within our local area; so special thanks are due to four local businesses whose expertise and support kept our show on the road:

ABS in Wetmore Road (always found you the right part, delivered it and always a fair price);

Tim Harrison Auto Electrical (can fix anything with wires, and often worked through the night to solve our problems);

Parker and Sons Printers (who printed virtually everything we needed, offering quality, attention to detail and great value for money).

The Chartwell Practice accountants. (Professional, but always approachable accountants, whose advice and problem solving kept our heads above water and the tax man at bay!)

We thoroughly recommend these local businesses; you can talk to them and trust them, they won’t let you down!

When we bought our first coach we were fortunate to deal a salesman who understood our business plan, sold us a really good vehicle and made the deal work for us.  He was John Wolfindale at Hughes DAF.  A true gentleman and a trustworthy salesman.  We owe you a lot John, thanks.

There are dozens of other folks who have helped us along the way, far too many to mention them all, but here are a few:

Tony Betteridge and all the guys at Bass Transport Workshops in Guild Street

Eve Saranghi and family at Simnetts Photographers

John Fellows, legal advisor and coach travel organiser

Our current landlord, Steve

We would like to thank our parents and family for their unwavering support and belief in our abilities.

Finally I must thank Julian Peddle, our long-time friend, former boss and fellow director, who came to our rescue in our time of need and whose subsequent advice, support and understanding has made running our business much less stressful— thanks Julian, you have been a very good friend!

Our best wishes to you all,

Richard & Kathy.
